ABOUT CAMP GRIZZLY
THE ONLY "OF, BY, FOR" DEAF SUMMER CAMP IN CALIFORNIA
NORCAL'S CAMP GRIZZLY:
LEADERSHIP CAMP FOR DEAF,
HARD OF HEARING & KODA YOUTH
Not all summer camp programs are alike.
Recognizing the underserved needs of our Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Koda youth, NorCal Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing established a weeklong summer leadership youth program, Camp Grizzly in 1999.
The only way to serve our young people is by providing adult mentors who share the same experiences of life as a Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Koda individual.
At Camp Grizzly, Communication is accessible 24/7 with all program staff and counselors.
Sign Language and Deaf Culture is revered and celebrated all week long.
Camp Grizzly is staffed by community volunteers with various backgrounds, skills and experiences in leadership, education, recreation, advocacy and social services.
